Paper Source India Collection papers

Each year, the PS Design team works together to create a new paper collection. This has become one of the projects we most look forward to– a wonderful mix of inspiration, creativity and collaboration (and long, long hours, thoughtful conversations and many, many revisions…the list goes on!).

After a trip to Asia last year, our founder Sue came back inspired to create a paper collection about India– what struck her most was all the COLOR, everywhere, as she traveled through the country.

We had a long time to reflect on the project before we actually began work, but the idea and thoughts of India stayed with us through the year. The attack on Mumbai, the emotions of the movie Slumdog Millionaire, a wonderful PBS series about India— plus trips to Devon Avenue in Chicago to hunt and gather fabrics and foods, countless books Sue brought back, magazine articles, questions and wonderful conversations…we became more and more enamored with India’s rich design tradition and its storied culture of festivals & celebrations. In the end, all of this helped shape our final collection.

We’re now proud to introduce our 2009 India Collection, which began with six new patterns that have found their way into lots of cool new products– including wrapping paper, stationery, office organization, rubber stamps and more. We’re having fun using the papers for card making, envelope liners, invitation embellishments and party decorations– they’re especially lovely for summer. You can see more of what we’re doing with the collection at your local store.

We hope you enjoy the vibrant, joyous colors that made us all fall in love with India!

P.S. For a look back at collections from recent years, see the Mid-Century Modern Collection from 2008, and the Flora & Fauna Collection from 2007, and if you’re a Paper Source historian, you may remember the Norsa Collection and Camden Fair collection, now out of print.

I love the Indian Collection. You know what I want to see: it’s a Heart stamp w/ Indian style. I saw it in the Georgetown store as a sample for embossing powder, it was the best stamp and I want it!!! If you have one laying around, I’d be glad to buy it! Oh, and make that paisley available pleeeeeease!!!

This is for Patty — the Indian Heart stamp you’re coveting is 805786. Go to the main Paper Source page and type that number into the “Search” box and viola! the stamp you want! (you may even be able to copy and paste the number from this post)

Oh, I just tried something — if you click on the link in the blog post that says “rubber stamps”, you’ll find 5 india inspired stamps — and the one you want is one of them. Here’s the link: http://search.papersource.com/index/_/N-/Ntt-indian%20and%20stamp

This stamp is a fav of mine too. In March, I stamped 4 of them on chartreuse cover wt paper, embossed with lime twinkle, cut them out and made a 4 leave clover with a brad holding the heart points together. It was fun for St Paddy’s Day!
