“Meteor” Shower (A Paper Source Baby Shower)

One of the great things about working at Paper Source, with tons of creative people, is the ability to celebrate our friends and co-workers’ life moments in meaningful ways. With baby showers, especially, it’s always fun to think of themes that really resonate with the mom-to-be. For this baby shower, we knew we wanted to have a celestial-themed bash that coordinated with her nursery motif. Since we’d already thrown one “stellar” baby shower, we wanted to make this one unique. We started by calling it a “meteor” shower with an emphasis on planets and the solar system.

For these invites we used Night Circle Cards and printed a band to look like a planetary ring on Sunshine Text Weight Paper. Before attaching the band, we made a template with cutouts where we wanted striations to be. We put the cutout on top of the circle cards and used ink pads to rub directly onto the card. Once dry, we attached the middle band. The band was secured on the back with a 4″ round label, which was printed with more shower details.

Since the shower was in the afternoon, we went with a fun “Neptune’s Nacho Bar” and light snacks and desserts. We labeled everything with a mis of place cards and “punny” names.

For decor we punched stars out in a variety of solar shades on text weight paper. Then we used double-sided tape to attach them to Blue & White Baker’s Twine with 1.25″ Round Labels for added interest.

We wrapped the gifts in Constellations Gift Wrap and Silver Stars Fine Paper for a really beautiful gift basket.

We love giving mom something sentimental to take home. We handed out extra star cutouts and asked attendees to write down their wishes for baby. Then we collected them in an A7 Box Mailer that was covered with fine paper; something cute to keep on a bookshelf.

Hello World! (A Paper Source Baby Shower)

It’s probably no surprise that we love celebrating here at Paper Source. When a fellow co-worker is having a big life moment, we see that as a great opportunity to create an event that perfectly matches their character with crafted and personal touches. We recently threw a baby shower for a member of our web team, Kristen, who has been with Paper Source for years. Kristen was expecting a baby boy, but also appreciates a subtle and sophisticated aesthetic. Because of that, this shower theme could easily be used for a boy/girl/gender neutral shower by simply using a different accent color. Here’s a look at some of our favorite touches.

We decided to hold a baby shower luncheon in one of our meeting rooms in the office. In order to make sure it felt intimate and inviting, we got rid of phones and cords, and added a Paper Bag table runner and D.I.Y. floral arrangements for a sweeping tablescape.

We accented with small bud vases, gumballs, candy sticks and Mercury Glass Candles. We made sure to keep the accents within our neutral palette of kraft, white, and silver. Kristen’s mom added a personal touch by bringing vintage handkerchiefs (leftover from Kristen’s wedding) and labeling them with dates around Kristen’s due date. Each guest took one home as their due date guess.

For each place setting, we used Chalkboard Bracket Cards and calligraphy for a special touch. Each person also had a Hello, World! card on their plate, which carried the theme through and had a game on the opposite side to match popular baby names with their respective countries. (We made the game ourselves with a little research and self-printing on Square Cards).

The treat table was adorned with a D.I.Y. Tissue Paper Tassel garland (instructions here) that incorporated Silver and Pool tissue paper and Cotton Twine. Special touches were added with a custom chalk sign on a Chalkboard Wallie, a custom Hello, World cake topper made with the Cameo machine and treats catered for Kristen, including mom-to-be’s favorite gourmet marshmallows (which, coincidentally, fit perfectly with our color scheme).

To serve milk, we used Vintage Milk Bottles and Gray & White Striped Paper Straws with mini powdered donuts on top for a cute little touch and a perfect accompaniment to cake.

On the other side of the room we filled a table with gifts for baby’s travels both near and far (including the Book of Maps). Before the shower, we compiled our favorite places in the world (along with pictures) as a keepsake for mom and baby.

Everyone had so much fun, and the shower was made even more special by personal touches and a unique theme. Want more inspiration? Check out some of our past Paper Source baby showers from an ABC Theme, Something Sweet and Out of This World.

Paper Source Spotted: Jenna Bush Hager’s Bookworm Baby Shower

Earlier this month, TODAY Show correspondent Jenna Bush Hager and her soon-to-arrive firstborn were honored by the NBC family. Her NBC co-hosts and friends threw a book themed baby shower at the Peter Callahan Catering Studio in New York. With a theme centered around books and words of wisdom, the event included a few key accents from Paper Source.

Jenna’s four-tiered diaper cake was wrapped in Burlap Ribbon, draped in peaceful Olive Leaves, accented with our Burlap Flowers, and topped with the ever-popular Sophie the Giraffe.

The hosts tied in an alphabet element by hanging kraft letters with burlap ribbon for an educational and adorable accent to the day’s events.

Gifts and wishes were offered to mom and baby in the form of books! Inside covers were signed by friends in good humor and wisdom, a trend that is likely to start a bookworm baby boom. Journals and books are a fun and unique way to share moments with friends, loved ones and newborns!

Favors were presented in burlap bags, which complimented the diaper cake perfectly. Guests were given a few seasonal treats like earrings and nail polish. The items were stuffed with Paper Source Wasp printed tissue paper and tied off with decorative ribbon from our collection.

We were excited to see how our products inspired this special event and even more tickled to learn that Jenna, Henry and their families welcomed Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager to the world this weekend. We look forward to the creative celebrations that follow!
